The start of serious competition with ChatGPT; Meta AI has been officially added to Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook

To compete with ChatGPT, Meta has also introduced Llama 3, which it claims is better than its rivals in many tasks.

The artificial intelligence assistant Meta (Meta AI), which was introduced in September last year, has now been officially added to all platforms of the company, namely Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Messenger. Additionally, for the first time, it will be available through a separate website at Meta.ai.

Meta hopes that its AI assistant will become a real competitor to ChatGPT, and for that reason, the social networking giant has also announced Llama 3, the next version of its open source model. Meta claims that the Llama 3 has outperformed its competitors in key benchmarks and outperforms them in tasks like coding.

Starting today, two smaller models of the Llama 3 are available for both the Meta AI assistant and third-party developers, with a much larger, multi-faceted version coming in the coming months.Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg tells The Verge that the company plans to make Meta AI the "smartest AI assistant" that "people around the world can freely use."

The unique capabilities of Meta's AI assistant

Meta's AI assistant is currently the only chatbot that uses both Bing and Google search results at the same time, with the tech giant deciding when to call on each search engine to help answer a user's query.
